The Rural Hub has been providing a wide range of community development courses for local residents to support greater community involvement and enhanced social inclusion, targeting growing isolation to achieve the integration of migrant communities with the host communities and their counterparts in other migrant communities.
It targets a major part of its actions at people who have moved into the local area in the last 10 years which includes a significant Polish, Lithuanian, Romanian and South American and South African population.
Weekly drop-in events and community services for information, referrals and help with completing forms are also offered through our community outreach office in Virginia. In addition, The Rural Hub provides local community organisations, charities and civil society organisations with support and guidance in accessing funding and grants to enhance community life in our region.
The Rural Hub is continually developing its programme of Social Mornings and Educational Afternoons to fill the skills gap in the provision of alternative education in the community. The Educational Afternoon themes, which are community driven and subject to demand, offer introductory sessions and micro-learning to local businesses, community groups and residents on a range of topics.
