Recently, Sofia’s online life took a dark turn. She started receiving messages full of threats and insults from an anonymous user. Initially, Sofia tried to ignore the threats, believing that they were just mean jokes that would disappear with time. However, the messages became increasingly frequent and disturbing. Each notification on her phone or computer was a new wave of insults and threats, undermining her confidence and peace of mind. The content of the messages ranged from personal insults to explicit threats against her and her family, which increased her level of anxiety. However, the burden of the anonymous threats began to affect her deeply. Although she had adopted security measures, particularly with the passwords to access her personal accounts, the constant fear that the threats were real began to overwhelm her, making her feel isolated and vulnerable. Sofia’s mental health took a downward turn. Always an exemplary student, she saw her school performance drop dramatically. She began avoiding activities she had previously loved, fearing that her attacker might meet her in person and do something more serious.
