A few days later, Nick notices that more of his classmates are talking about Momo.
The rumours and stories are spreading rapidly, and some students even claim to have received messages from Momo. Nick’s friend, Mia, is particularly affected and confides in Nick that she’s terrified after receiving a threatening message from Momo.
Mia shows Nick the message, which threatens her if she doesn’t follow Momo’s instructions. Just like in the stories Nick already read, the first few challenges seem harmless, like staying up late or watching a scary video. However, they quickly escalate to more dangerous tasks, like harming oneself or stealing something from a store. Nick can see how scared Mia is and starts to worry.
He remembers Iva’s original post and decides to talk to her to find out where she heard about Momo. Iva admits she found it on a random social media page and thought it was just a scary story to share for fun.
